On the local level, we encourage citizens to work
directly with their elected officials. Let your Mayor,
county commissioner, city councilor, state legislators and
even the Governor know that you want more recycling in your
community. Using the grassroots, your voice is powerful and
will be heard.

What Can An Activist Group Do?
- Start a petition: Using online and in person
outreach.

- Ask your council or commission to pass a resolution (NMRC can help with this).
- Attend council/commission meetings. Get recycling on
the agenda.
- Submit Letters to the Editor to your local paper.
- Host a recycling drive, a recycling outreach event
or visit youth or students to talk about recycling.
